Chris Davenport was born and raised in southern Louisiana, and is the youngest of 3 children. His parents are both retired educators with 70 years of combined experience. After joining the Navy in 2002, Chris was stationed at the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek. Chris graduated from the Naval Nuclear Power School, and received several medals of commendation. He spent his military career in Goose Creek and in King's Bay, Georgia, aboard the USS Rhode Island.
During Chris's time in the Navy, his skills as a Nuclear Submariner allowed him to serve underway and in the classroom, as a Nuclear Machinist Mate. He earned his undergraduate degree from Thomas Edison State University, while serving our country and raising his family.
As a civilian, Chris has an impressive resume. He led the Engineering and Maintenance department for the APL at AK Steel for a 24 month term. Following in his parents' footsteps, Chris taught mathematics at Berkley and Cane Bay Middle schools, until he was offered a position with the Department of the Army. His engineering role allowed him to further expand his infrastructure management and facilities maintenance portfolio. Chris designed and led several multi-million dollar projects, was responsible for 820,000 sqft of real property, spanning 350 acres of the Naval Weapons Station. Chris was awarded the Civilian Service Commendation Medal in 2021 for his exceptional performance.
Chris, his wife Angelina, and their blended family of six, fell in love with the outdoor community living Nexton provides. It was an easy decision to purchase their home front and center on the notorious Great Lawn; the Central Park of our tightknit village. On any given day, you will find the Davenport family visiting with neighbors, playing kick-ball, or walking the trails with their 4-legged rescue, Ursula.
